Last Friday, the stars were in a perfect alignment, when two European blues magazines arrived in my mailbox, both featuring my photos! Since I’m not officially affiliated with any blues magazine, it ‘s generally quite rare that my photos are published, so imagine when two magazines arrive in my mailbox on the same day!

Jefferson

Founded in May 1968 in Sweden by the Scandinavian Blues Association (SBA), Jefferson Blues Magazine is the oldest blues magazine still in publication in the world. I thought it was in Europe, but after checking, it is indeed the oldest in the world. It obviously covers the latest news from the many Scandinavian blues bands and the numerous blues events taking place in Sweden. In this article, Birgitta Larsson commented on three of the twenty or so artists who performed at the Malmö festival in the Bluestältet (blues tent), organized by the Malmoe-Copenhagen Connection who had invited me there (I ‘ll come back to that later).

Twoj Blues

The Polish blues magazine was founded in 2000, and although it is not as old as the previous one, Twoj Blues is a respected and internationally recognized magazine: both magazines have also received the prestigious Keeping the Blues Alive (KBA) award, presented by the Blues Foundation in Memphis. Twoj Blues is very active and covers all the blues events taking place in Poland or Central Europe. In this particular case, Ewa Matysik – who I have known for a long time through the European Blues Union, where she is very active – simply wanted to interview Gloria Turrini, who was 2nd in the European Blues Challenge 2026, and whose show I personally absolutely loved.
